Local Configuration
Quartz has been developed to provide a comprehensive solution, but still
remain flexible to address local variations in requirements and processes. Quartz
provides many facilities which enable it to be tailored and extended as
necessary to meet the specific requirements of individual awarding bodies:
- Record and manage local processes, for example, these may relate to
marketing initiatives, business development, relationships with
providers, or qualifications development.
- Develop local reports and add them to standard report menus
- Tailorable certificate and transcript templates
- Where specific functionality is not applicable to a particular
awarding body, then the corresponding options or screens can be ‘turned
off’ and hidden from users.
We support local configuration as part of an organisation's initial
implementation, but clients can continue to develop their use of Quartz
using the above facilities without calling on Portico for each new change.
The use of a highly structured architecture and design, and our own
deployment model, allows Portico to maintain a single software code-base,
but still incorporate specific additional capabilities for individual awarding
bodies promptly and in a highly cost effective way. The efficiency that
this approach brings enables us to meet the needs of individual
organisations but also keep overall costs affordable for even the smallest
awarding bodies.
