Implementation
Getting the implementation of a new information system right is
an essential foundation for achieving the ongoing benefits that are
being sought, and supporting clients during the implementation stage
of Quartz is a key part of Portico’s service.
Portico have considerable experience in this area having
implemented operational system at over 30 awarding organisations.
Managing system implementations is also a core area of our
consultancy work, particularly in the public sector regarding large
NHS and social care IT systems, and we believe that all of our
clients benefit from our wide range of skills and experience in this
area. The Portico staff supporting Quartz implementation understand
awarding organisation processes and issues in depth as well as
bringing expertise in the Quartz
system.
Implementation timescales
A hosted Quartz service can be up and running for a new client within a
couple of days. However, the typical implementation period is one to two
months. This allows the awarding organisation time to prepare and Portico to
complete data migration. This also gives awarding bodies time to brief
centres/providers on plans for moving to electronic registrations and
awards.
Implementation approach and services
The Quartz implementation process has been designed to minimise
the cost and effort involved, but the approach is tailored to each
individual client in order to fit with their local requirements,
skills, timescales, etc. There are core services needed for all
Quartz implementations (e.g. installation, configuration, and
training) but we can offer implementation support in all the areas
listed below:
- Implementation planning and project management
- Installation of Quartz on your server, or provision of a
hosted service
- Local configuration work, for example, local branding of QuartzWeb and certificate templates
- User training and support
- Data migration
- Integration with other local systems
- Change management and benefits realisation support
